PRIORITIES MISPLACED?
The strike this morning, took a lot of people by surprise. It was the reason of the strike though, that left me completely flabbergasted. Strike for not being allowed to go to a cult fest? Excuse me, but are we running out of things to do right here on the campus. I understand that a cult fest means more exposure, more interaction and more of a lot of other things but if all these ‘more’ things do not come along, is it the end of the world? I really thought that Mody girls were made to withstand tougher things. And that they had an alternative to everything.
If they are not allowed to see the greatest debater in Delhi, they would create their own debate club to produce the greatest debater themselves. Not allowed to see the greatest rock act in Delhi? They would create their own rock band, something which would deliver on quality and quantity. Missing the spirit that makes DU what it is? They would strain every nerve to create the spirit right here in MITS.
What’s the point of fighting the authorities when we should be working with them. Doing every thing to make them bend, not break.
Its sad that we try so hard to make some other college’s fest such a huge success, even going on a strike for them, but do not care a zilch for the societies on campus which are trying to create that same atmosphere right here. A case in point – the drama club meeting yesterday, wherein only 13 out of the 100 turned up.
Why are we now, so used to being spectators? Why do we not want to become creators? Can none of us imagine our drama club flourishing to the extent that students from DU come to watch our plays? Why have we stopped dreaming and believing? No change will come to this campus until we initiate it. And change is certainly not when we get a gate pass to go to someone else’s cult fest. Change will come when we shun that gate pass to make this college a better place.
But till then, our priorities are certainly misplaced.

The virus-lethargy which has crept in but slowly vanishing should not be over-overlooked...people may not get to go to other fests to roam around..probably they can come with something concrete for an event thr, which can make mody proud..else thr's enough to be done in the campus...only we can change things n they r...
sittin at th gate wid hollow demands wont serve the purpose........
n moreover ths ultra short timed strike shows dat thy wr der jst 4 th sake of sm xcitement......
n th fetians b4 joinin thm shud ponder ovr wat actually is issue.....n lower thr impulse level....
We should not forget that these fests give an exposure to the students n its every student's right to go if they want to.
These other college fests will only bring a ZEAL and make us rhapsodic.... Then the day won't be far when we in a dream to match our pace with other college will work more accurately.
As every thing needs a vision and mission, other college fests will definitely enhance these.
we cannot deny d fact dat fests give xposure...but dey all r takin actions cuz of d prev recordz...n every1 is aware of dat...so det r doin thr job wich 2 sum xtent is protectin us n protectin col name...but yes widout givin 2nd thot v can say dat v r "over protected">...:)..but it cannot b resolved by strike....at least our batch knows wat had happened in last strike...n wat wer d results n repurcusionz...so lets jus say dat all v can do is hope 4 d best...
:)
the way of presenting the protest being so impulsive was wrong but the the purpose is right.exposure to other college's tech-fest is also required but our priority must be to make our tech n cult fest worth of attracting other colleges.
so people turn up in making our cllg d best............
definately our priorities are seriusly misplaced....reason ppl want to go cult fest is not participation in events showing thier talents but something else...if real participation is shown such tech n cult fest then college will have no qualms in bringin fame to itself....fetians shud think thousand times before behaving in such irresponsible way..
The managment said
Every year MITS goes to many colleges and many students of other colleges come here for better exposure and understanding...
OOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW
From the past yr the only students allowed to other colleges were the sports persons and to my knowledge i don't remember anyone comming to our college as there was neither a tech fest nor cult fest.
tn case of IITD's cult fest
I would say people some of their needs only when they feel it.The strike was just a glimse of all those things with which mitsians r unhappy.
If the dean has such a heart problem that he can neither listen to his own students problems nor talk to the parents on any topic then he must take a break!.
this is rightly said....why do we at mits wanna hv all d fun widout participating. an example can be d lnmiit fest where half of d mits turned up wid few bothering to participate in fs,dance, drama n tech events n d rest wer dr 4 dancing in d rock nite...why dont we enthusiastically participate in college events and prove r skill n mettle in frnt of mgmt n then ask 4 out passes...n 4 d strike it was completely base less ...
I respect wholly the idea of making MITS the epoch of cultural and technical instance, however, lets have a pragmatic approach .The idea of a CULTURAL FEST, is built on the very foundation of an intercollege, articipation , which becomes a ground for promotion of ideas and talent , thereby , inspiring the budding talent.
Now , lets come to ,whether we should be allowed to go or retricted, well, being big girls of 20 I think this decision should entirely be in the hands of the students , who may prioritise their actions , with assitance of their parents, and the authority should encourage them entirely.
Now this is UTOPIA.lets come to actuality, last years experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gals are we scraed or something , or have we lost faith in ourselves, can one immature incident decide the fate of entre FETians, are we so scared of trying times , that we give up as soon as we face one .
Oh cummon , this is not the FET , I KNOW .
sour experiences are for , a lesson , not witholding are fervour to long for perfection .
there is no ahrm in appreciating the talent elsewhere , and gradually imbibing it .........
lets be positive ladies......
n lets strive to bring a change in the mentalities of those who think sour experinces can deter our determinations..........
cheers..........!!!!!
.....and one more thing , if evryone participates , wont there be a shortage of the spectators , I RESPECT THE CROWD , THE SPECTATORS , THE AUDIENCE , AND I BELIEVE , THER IS NOT MUCH OF A HARM IN BEING, A SPECTATOR , FOR ONCE,THOUGH ITS MOST OF THE TIMES IN OUR CASE.:) ;) ;)
in lnmiit , people did turn up , wot if not to participate ,but they did cum to encourage us , we needed it .THANKS PEOPLE, WE LOVE U.
so its just to say that it is imporatnt to have audiences too..........

What u grow depends completely on what u sow. This is as true about fecund fields as it is in our
case.First we do the mistakes then we say that college is impeding in the way of our exposure .
We should not fight over the issue that why r we not allowed go other college’s tech fest but we must try to organize a tech or cult fest in our college n turn into a grand success……and then surely… nobody will dare to stop us.
when v get n opportunity 2 participate in other fests dn v shld grab it bt 1st v need 2 raise r level manifold so dt v r able 2 mk a mark smwhr bt in a +ve way n dt wud cm wn v show d sm enthusiasm in r collg events...
action spks louder dn words, so completely respecting d role of an audience i wud jst lyk 2 raise a single pt dt why is this cheerinf boosting crowd absent during teacher's day n founders day...which suffer 4m d lack of participation n audience.. :(
ppl mkng excuses regarding dr oh so tight schedules leads to not so full chairs in our own events n den v strike abt getting no permissions 4 goin 2 other fests..not correct at our parts.
visiting inter collg events as a spectator is not wrong....bt 1 thing dt none of us can deny is dt participation givs u 100times more satisfaction dn watching smthng coz u r involved in it..high tym...v hv cheered enough 4 others..
lets now channel our efforts n initiate, make n effort among ourselves, reap max. benefot 4m wat v hv in hand n mk our eday n dabdiya nite such an enormous success dt being a part of it givs u enough high n satisfaction as ne othr cultfest does.... ;)
lets create a success story widin campus...all d best.. :)
talking about eposure..v definitly want some..bt not at d stake of making a mockery out of d agenda that was put up at d strike.a certain hyped agenda portraying d demands of all odd-FETians ws put up widout even half of them knowing abt it!!giv me a break!
definitly v all r responsible for ourselves, but what we forget alwaz in d spirit of "making-dat-big-change" is dat who takes d responsiblity of people around u..bcoz when v represent our coll snwhr else..its not just me n u..its d entire lot of girls who come along.. n it takes that jst one irresponsible person among d lot to tarnish d whole image built up in years..
n how many of us went for a strike when our own tech-fest dint tk place last year??wsnt dat a gud medium of hvng exposure n being spectators too..!
hey people , i respect the fact that,we need to raise the level of our performances , no doubt , but may i ask u , how are v goin to knw what is the standard, n what is the ebnch mark , ya ill tell u , lets stand up , look at whats goin on elswhere...........
NEXT WHAT I WISH TO SAY IS DAT, WE ARE DEVIATING FROM THE ACTUAL ISSUE......
N DA ISSUE IS
SHOULD'NT WE BE ALLOWED TO DECIDE WHERE TO GO , AND WHERE NOT TO , WHICH FEST TO ATTEND AND WHICH NOT TO ,
AS WE COULD NOT ATTEND THE FEST , WE HAVE TAKEN THE FACT IN THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE , AND TOLD OURSELVES , HEY LETS GET BETTER AT WHAT WE CAN ..........
BUT WHAT IF V COULD HAVE GONE ...???
THE POINT IS NOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME AN AUDIENCE OR NOT .......
THE POINT IS WHY ARE WE BIENG IMPOSED UPON
AND I BELIEV IT IS A STRONG POINT ..........
WHICH NO ONE WILL DISAGGREE
WHY SHOULD SOMEONEELSE DECIDE WHERE LIES OUR INTESRT , RADER WE SHOUL DO THAT FOR OURSELVES
ONE MORE THING ............
DOES WITHHOLDING US FROM A FEST , INSTILL THE FERVOUR OF DRIVING STUDENTS INTO AUDIENCES IN OUR FESTS AND PERFORMANCES....
THE DRIVE COMES FROM WITHIN BY MEANS OF INSPIRATION ....NOT IMPOSITION ...............
LETS GET DAT CLEAR................
no doubt the restrictions put on inter clg tech & cul fest is not justified. admin cant stop us frm doin what we want to. i support participating..be it on campus or outside.
...the sparse crowd at our college events proves that we are not upto the mark. when we are not good enough to draw the crowds of our own college how could we even think of participating inter college. well participating doesnt means just going on stage without preparation....well after the horrible dance performance at lmniit i beleive- girls atleast keep the flame of ur college burning. dnt force the audience to laugh at us by presenting unprepared work on the stage. participate with the urge to win and nt simply to participate...think a lil beyond just a participation certificate...wch no doubt many of us only seek for..
right said parul..i totally agree with u..dt is wt i mean by raisin our level..coz v knw dt even by regular standards v r not vry good...n 2 participate at ne intercollg events u need months of practice n hardwork so if v wanna go v shld save r energy for it rather dn protesting 4 petty issuses..
well this is certainly a more convincing argument PARUL , but the point which im trying to raise evrey now and then is not the upliftment of standard , but hte sporadic , attempt on the part of the administration to waive us away from our rights.........
the issue right now is
"THE STUDENTS OF FET WILL BE HEAILY PENALIZES IF THEY ARE FOUND ATTENDNG FETS OF OTHER COLLEGES"
is it an attempt to woo us into their idea of"participation with perfection"haaah
and should we yeild to such attempts , made in such presumptuous manner..........??????
i truely agree with what are u saying Snigdha (note what i said- " THE RESTRICTIONS PUT ON OUR PARTICIPATION CULT/TECH FEST ARE NOT JUSTIFIED. I SUPPORT PARTICIPATION ON/OUTSIDE CAMPUS")
but i want my college girls to take solid performances to colleges...even at our clg stage if the performance are breath taking..nobody misses them...take on account the crowd of F S...and compare this crowd with that of other events. All i want to say is that do away with Participation Certificates and concentrates on winning. if MITsians can win in sports...why should we lag in cultural events???
and again ...do who cares for the ADMIN!!!
THEY CANT STOP US FROM PARTICIPATING IN EVENTS WE WANT
wel i dont think d sole purpose of that protest was to go to iit-d cult fest...bt was to make d authorities realise that such an event shud also b organised in our college as ths supposedly is an engg college...
First of all,let me make it clear to all of you that what all happened can not be named a strike...it was just that we felt a need to stand up against the over-growing restrictions in mody, that all of the second yrites n first yearites gathered outside dean office,to resolove some matters and put up some requests regarding different things....now would you call it a strike??
And such a gathering, i feel should be done occasionally as it certainly makes us take some new decisions, realising our responsibility to our college,or vice-versa !
